Michael started his journey with Asckey in 2009 as a software developer. Michael could see the potential that the company and its product portfolio had, so when the Managing Director retired, Michael took on the business.
Since becoming the Managing Director, Michael has seen the company achieve ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 27001 (Data Security) accreditations. He has also, more recently, helped the company become Cyber Essentials Plus certified.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Since becoming Managing Director, I really enjoy working with the rest of the team to develop new and exciting products. I like how I am involved in all parts of the development process.
The only downside is I now don’t get as much time to get stuck into coding!
What made you choose to go into your current career path?
I got into software and coding as I really enjoy logic and problem-solving. I also like the designing side of coming up with the best way to solve a problem.
I love how technology evolves and the challenge of keeping up with the latest developments.
What do you like to do away from work?
Outside of work, I like to explore the outdoors with my family.
I like playing and watching sports, especially being able to go and watch Arsenal with my daughter.
What’s been the biggest highlight of your career so far?
The biggest highlight of my career has definitely been taking over the ownership and running of Asckey. It has been a big responsibility and a steep learning curve but with the help from all the staff, the rewards have been worth it.
Where has been your best holiday destination?
I would probably say Italy, especially Rome.
Are you a tea or coffee person?
I like both but mostly drink tea.
